Video Baby Safety Monitors

When we think of baby monitors we imagine two electronic devices – one next to your sleeping baby and the other that can be anywhere else in your house – so the parents or carers can listen for sounds that the baby makes. But technology has moved on and it is not only possible to just hear your baby – you can see them too. With video baby safety monitor systems you have the luxury of watching you baby whilst they are asleep and as soon as they wake – you will know so can attend to their needs promptly.

Video baby monitors have a built in camera on the transmitter device – rather like a webcam. They usually still have a microphone so can listen to the baby too. The images are sent through to the receiver unit which will have a LCD TFT monitor screen of around 2-3 inches in size which is perfect for viewing your baby.

Some video monitoring units allow complete control of the camera remotely so that the whole room can be viewed by panning and tilting the camera using the controls on the receiver unit. Often several additional cameras can be attached to the system so that other rooms can be monitored. Great for watching over your little ones to make sure they are safe from harm.

Another great feature of certain video monitoring cams is the night vision capability. This will allow the viewing of your infant when it is dark at night thus eliminating the need to switch a light on with the possibility of waking your baby.

Some video monitoring devices can be plugged into the internet so that the parent can view their babies from a remote location, anywhere in the world. This offers so much peace of mind for a parent who may be staying away from home to be able to watch their baby.

These video devices can either be wired or wireless devices. This means that both transmitter and receiver devices are connected together either via cables or via a wireless link. Wired monitoring systems have traditionally offered the best reliability as they do not suffer from interference like the wireless system. However, with digital technology now employed in baby safety monitors, interference is virtually a thing of the past. You can be confident a digital or DECT wireless baby monitor unit will provide a fantastic monitoring solution.
